Dark III reduces Shedding to a quieter arrangement of curves, circles, and shadow. Thin lines of blue-white light trace the sculpture's edges while its overlapping forms compress and expand the surrounding negative space, making depth increasingly ambiguous.
Part of the After the Divide series, this photograph resulted from the reworking of Shedding, a sculpture damaged during Hurricane Helene. As the sculpture was repaired and transformed, close photographic observation revealed compositions within its altered surfaces, allowing light, color, depth, and material to separate from the larger form and become works in their own right.
