Floralia
Floralia is Ava Bock's oldest photographic series and her earliest formal study of light. Begun in 2004 in her mother's Brooklyn garden, these floral portraits approach each flower and grouping as individual subjects, using light, form, and detail to reveal its distinct personality.
Over time, Floralia has expanded beyond that first garden to include flowers encountered in gardens, nurseries, and arboretums during Ava's travels. The ongoing series reflects an intimate way of observing the natural world, shaped by curiosity, attention, and the expressive possibilities of light.
