Within the Vein is an ongoing photographic study of plant life viewed through its structures, surfaces, and interconnected systems. Begun in 2025 after Ava Bock relocated to Oregon, the series moves beyond the familiar whole to find abstraction in veins, edges, pathways, color, and light.
Through close and isolated observation, leaves, canopies, and other plant forms become intimate landscapes of structure and variation. The series invites a slower way of seeing, where natural details and relationships reveal compositions that often go unnoticed.
