Active Earth
So this is my final result for the Infinite Sketch project. The prompt they gave me was "Active". I wanted to show how active something is that we perceive to be inert or dormant. I used all the inks sent along with the project as well as several of my own. I used my bottled inks with natural hair brushes to create the background colors. Similar to watercolors, I used denatured alcohol to lighten and blend my colors. Then, I had to let it dry for about 20 mins. Once I came back to it, I used the art pens sent with the project as well as some corresponding colored inks of my own to create the topographic lines that bring the "Active" portion of the image to life. The green and blue sprays at the top and bottom of the image are intended to reference the particles in the air that are also actively moving but I'm not so sure it worked as well as I had hoped. Either way, this piece is now off to it's new home.
